my vet says there is a virus going aroound that effects dogs and lasts between 2-4 days.  Does any one have any info on this virus?

Hello Everyone,
I have a 4 year old miniature Schnauzer. Yesterday evening he decided to get in the trash and try and eat my wifes sanitary product. (sorry for the graphicness) we did get it away from him. However during the night he vomited several times. The vomit was thick and full of food. It had no odor. Off and on during the day he has been gagging and occasionally vomiting. Same deal, no odor and thick.
My question is how long should I wait until I take him to the vet. I have read everything I could find on the internet, but anyones input would be invaluable..
Thanks for the input..

I adopted Chloe (11 month old Lab mix) about 3 months ago. She's an awesome dog all around except for her separation anxiety and it only seems to be getting worse since I've started working in my home. She follows me EVERYWHERE and I feel like I'm constantly tripping over her!
I crate her when I leave the house, but my neighbor told me she barks and carries on for a very long time. (Note: I've never left her in there longer then 4 hrs.)
She's quite the escape artist too, so we have to lock all the doors on the crate. She tries her hardest to get out of it so much that the crate has ended up in another part of the room and the tray underneath is across the room as well. I put many chew toys in there with her, along with a Kong stuffed with treats, but instead of chewing on those she will destroy her bedding, blanket...etc. so I had to eliminate those items.
As I mentioned before, I crate her when I have to leave, because if I don't she will find something of mine (not my husbands) to chew on.
She never chews on anything (except her toys) when I'm home. I'd also like to mention she likes her crate, because when I'm home she lays in it quite often.
I've tried leaving the house without making a big deal about it for a minute and walking back in (again, not making a big deal upon my return) and repeating the processes, but it's not working. Help! :)
I'd also like to mention, her foster parents told me she was found wandering on the side of the road. I have a very hard time believing that, because she is awesome off leash. She never leaves my side and always comes when she is called.
I'd appreciate any advice you could give me. Thank you! :)

Just wondering if anyone wanted to help create a list of bones for dogs and share their opinions on whether or not they were safe.

Rawhide – I have heard it takes a while to digest, but overall it’s a safe snack

Calf Bones – This is a real bone, nice and solid.  I have heard they are good for the teeth and gum stimulation.  Healthy

Chicken Bones – Possibly can split and hurt dog.  Very dangerous and could cause serious problem. Not Healthy

Has anyone had any problems with Advantix Flea Topical causing seizures in their dog?  If so, please give details.

So I came across MSNBC's article on Bo Obama, and I can't make up my mind on what I think.  On the one hand, the whole story seems more than a little fishy. On the other, I think President Obama is an honest man and I almost always think the conspiracy theorists area a few cards short of a full deck.  What does everyone else think?

So, 6 months ago I got my 9 year old retired guide dog harpo. Right before I got him guide dog school gave him a checkup and said he was fine...I don't think he is. First off, food, food, food FOOD. I know labs love food but I am telling you he can not look at you around food. If you try to train him you can't use food. He loves people, he is obedient, but not around food, not like a normal labs food obsession, like an addiction. Second, we will be doing something and he just falls down. he lays there for about 20 minutes then will get back up. I don't think it is physical because if I pull food out or mention a treat he gets up and wags his tail.He is also freaks out when I am not there unless he is in his crate. Any help?

I went camping for the 4th of July and I noticed William was limping around after the first day of hiking. I looked at his paws and noticed the were tender and looked swollen. I really like to go camping, and William seems to enjoy it as well. Is there anything I can do next time to help keep his feet protected?

I have a 2yr old rot. Her name is sadie. I have noticed a red rash on her belly, and also scabs on her ears, nose and even around her eyes. They are crusty and sometimes they ooze. She doesnt itch with this but all she wants to do is sleep. I have cleaned the area with warm water and I apply neosporin around the nose and other area's. I have taken her to the vet and they are doing blood work on her. Has anyone had any similiar problems I am really worried. I had lost a rot 2yrs ago after having him for 10yrs to cancer, and I had a poodle of 22yrs that passed 2months after the rot had died. I cant loose another pet. So if anyone has had any problem please help me out. Thanks
