I hope someone can help with some insight into how to help my rescue kitty. I found him roaming the apartments where I worked when he was about four months old. At the time I couldn't take him in but I fed him daily had him neutered at six months. He was known as 'loudmouth' to the residents because he would follow them as they walked their dogs and wail. When anyone tried to approach him, he would freak out and run away. Frequently he followed residents to their doors and wailed outside for half an hour but he would never enter the apartment or allow himself to be touched.
Finally I found myself in a new living situation with only 1 very sweet cat and we had our first cold snap so I took him in. He was dirty and skinny and beat up but the vet gave him a clean bill of health and he got his shots.
I allowed a good month of transition time and it went (almost) seamlessly-- he got along and still gets along with the other altered male. They are best friends, in fact.
The problem is this cat who is now about 3 years old is frightened of absolutely everything. I let him choose when to be petted and held and more often than not he sleeps in the bed with me at night and cuddles nightly. He regresses and makes biscuits on my tummy for about 30 minutes a night as well. The rest of the time he is scared really easily by new sounds, people and new objects in the home. He is almost always on edge and that's what I'm concerned about.
Is this just something he'll have to live with or is there anything I can do for him? He has plenty of hidey holes and two cat condos. He now eats Blue Buffalo food because the old food caused awful allergies for him.
I'm just trying to give as much info about him that I can so if anyone has any suggestions to help him not be so scared all the time I'd be very grateful.

It amazes me how much cats love to play with a ball of yarn.  My kitty gets so excited when I pull out her favorite toys, does anyone else have a favorite cat toy they can tell me about?

My cat is supposed to take a teaspoon of anchovy/sardine oil every day as part of treatment for 2 serious diseases.  She is not a fan of fish, anyway, and will not take the oil in her food or lap it up by itself.  How can I get her to take it?

My two male Siberians are the most lovable and personable kittens I have ever had.  My only problem is that I can't discipline them; I have tried a water-spray; they seem to like water; I have tried foil; they end up playing with it.
Yelling "NO" means nothing to them.
I am concerned that they will get hurt; jumping on the stove top, etc.
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Wanted to see if anyone had any experience in dealing with a pure breed cat.  I know there a lot of cat's in need of adoption, but I really wanted to get a specific breed.  Are pure breeds better?

I adopted a cat named Callie from creigslist. He didnt tell me how old she was until i looked at her vet records when it said she was turning 11 this coming up december. I didnt care how old she was because she was the sweetest cat. Every night she would lay on my chest or back and fall asleep. Well yesterday afternoon me and her were taking a nap together she was acting normal, perfectly fine even. I left for a couple hours and come home and she was under the bed (which was usual). I go to pick her up and she lets out a low long meow and i thought it was nothing so i continued to head to the living room with her. Then i layed her on the couch and i knew there was something wrong rightaway! She let out the same low meow and went limp. Her breathing was heavy and her mouth was wide open with her tongue to the side. This happened at 5. We put her on a blanket in my room to be more comfy and hope she would ride it out. She was still very limp but she tended to move a little bit i tried making her drink some water and she wouldnt really take it. She pooped twice and moved around then by 8 her breathing dropped dramatically and she would let a distressing low meow out then by 8:30 her breathing was now gasping! She would take one long gasp and wouldn't do it again for multiple seconds and she would make soft meows. By 8:40 she passed. Can anyone tell me what was wrong with my Callie?

Not sure what breed my kittens r pretty interested to no as well
