Such a sad story I just have to tell it.  I have 2 wonderful beautiful siamese cats, both rescued from an animal shelter.  Nick was 5 when we adopted him and he would now be 10 years old. Our other cat is a 4 year old snowshoe siamese and she is adorable.
Last week we adopted another beautiful little siamese cat and have been acclimating her to her new surroundings.  Today I let Nick in the room, with me present, to gently introduce him to the new cat for only a few minutes. He sniffed the room, ate a bit of her food, saw her. She is timid and went and laid down and hissed at him. He hissed back and I gave them a few minutes together and then separated them. Nick was a bit perturbed leaving the room but seemed ok.  He positioned himself on my bed, his usual daytime spot.  Later in the day I went upstairs to check on the new cat in her room and noted Nick lying on the bed. When I went over he was gone!  He had just died in bed and looked like he was just sleeping.  I am still in shock about it . He, in fact, had a Vet appointment tomorrow morning for his annual check up.  I don't know what to say or do. It is hearbreaking and unfathomable to us.I can only say my prayers for him, hope that he did not suffer any pain and will rest in peace.  Thank you for listening.
Devastated in Maine.

My 15-year old cat has been diagnosed with a thymoma, a non-malignant tumor of the thymus for which the suggested treatment is highly invasive surgery (opening up of the sternum and ribcage to remove the tumor, which is pressing against the lungs). I am trying to find someone whose senior cat has had this surgery. It seems to me that the recovery and the many possible complications may cause more pain and suffering than palliative care, but I don't know anyone who has had a personal experience with the procedure and its aftermath.

Anyone know a good vet in San Francisco?

This seemed to work for us.  Hope it helps someone.

L-L mashes and dissolves in water easily to give by syringe.
I started with 1000 mg first day (4 split doses) and less each day after that.  He started drinking the first day (hadn't been drinking...all meds had failed).
This is Day 5, and I gave about 300 mg last nite, even tho he's been comfortable since Day 1.
Changed food to grainless.  Purina Beyond Chicken.  None of my cats would eat urinary tract formula.

My cat is an older cat but I've only had her 2 years, her last owners couldn't keep her any longer. Last year she went without fleas. This year, she started with the black eggs, I now brush her often with lemon juice or vinegar.

I just started this because I didn't realize the problem. or residue. I don't know if it's fleas, food allergy or what. She's also had the same food for the two years I've had her, Friskies Senior Salmon.

Now this roughness began 2  months ago beneath the fur and seems to be upper chest and head only. When brushed or combed I now get this grainy looking tan colored residue.
Please help Saki, she is so miserable.
Thanks, Fred

Last week my cat started to refuse his snacks and for him that was unusual.  He always just went somewhere and plopped down so his energy wasnt anything new however on Monday he seemed more down and didnt eat antthing really could have been a few days and I wanted to take him to Vet but hubby said no not eating isnt anything to go to vet for.  I woke up tuesday morning and my hubby said you better take him in he isnt breathing great.  So I rushed him down there about 12 min ride and he was screaming his usual i hate this cage and i know where were going dont do it so that was nothing new. When we got there the vet took him and he was screaming --- she came out and told me his heart was enlarged and went through too much info but bottom line is he has cardiomyopothy.  She said he was in critical condition so she put him on oxygen --I came back to see him and he just seemed to get upset when he saw me and was crying out for me but I wanted him to calm down to get oxygen because they had to stabilize him and then we were gooing to take him to pet cardioligist.  I went home and no sononer than I got there she told me he was worse and the next step would be intubeation--i said do what it takes to keep him alive.  When I arrived they were suctioning the liquid from his lungs and hand pumping (breathing for him) and lacix wasnt drawing the liquids out.  He was half knocked out so I just watched and when my husband came we talked to vet who said his survival was grim.  So we did what we thought would be best for him and put him down.  I am devistated and play it over and over in my mind--He was screaming doesnt that mean he had decent lung function? Did I jump the gun and couold have saved him?  I miss him terribly.

My cat has her quirks, nothing to be concerned about i think but one thing bothers me that i don't understand. When I arrive home she will hide behind the couch for some reason. I just wonder what it is all about. she did not always do this just the last couple of years. she is about 15 yrs. old and we have a very good relationship.

Three days ago we noticed a lump on my cats forehead just above her nose. It was very large. It burst and we thought it was an abscess. The next day she was very quiet and didn't go outside like she always done and was off her food. Her breathing became very rapid so I took her straight to the vets. They said she had a slight temperature which would be causing her heavy breathing. And prescribed antibiotics. 12 hours later I had her at the after hours vets as she was hardly breathing and was brining up clear yellow fluid. They done exrays and it showed a lot of fluid in her lungs and chest cavity and there was not it we could do as she was in so much pain. I still have so many questions. Like why didn't the first vet check her lungs? If he did she might still be alive. I just wish I could bring her back I'm so lonely without her. She was my family. My daughter.

First and foremost I'd like to thank you for taking the time to read this story: The street on which I live has a number of strays running around, breeding by the litters. I put out food and water everyday for them and although I truly wish I could keep them all, this little fellow who I have named 'Bonzo' was scampering around my backyard. With two other cats of my own, Tigerlily and my little fighter of a feline Scooter (who was born with an enlarged heart and asthma). I was able to bathe Bonzo, feed him, and look after him for a few days. After the 3rd day the poor little guys health was not improving. The other morning his health hit an all time low, I rushed him to the vegetarian hospital where the vet told me, that by the time he went back to check on him, he would be gone but Bonzo had another idea and that was to LIVE. They put him on oxygen, gave him cortisone shots, and a number of other antibiotics. The vet, being a business structure all in all asked what the budget was for this little guy and for the life of me I wasn't able to put a price to his question. He now has now been at the vets for the past two days. He's been in and out of a coma but he is a fighter with a fighting chance. I ask whomever is reading this to take the time to consider donating to help to continue to save his life. Not one to ask for hand outs, he has me by the heart. Any donation, nothing is too small. Any questions or concerns please feel free to ask. PLEASE HELP SAVE BONZO!
