My poor baby Roary suddenly died Thursday morning.  He was fine about 45 minutes earlier.  I had been in another part of my house and had been getting things together for a yard sale I was having.  I've had a lot of trouble sleeping lately and the day before had been the anniversary date of my mother passing away,  so I was very upset already.  I went into my room to get something and saw Roary laying on the floor at the end of my bed and thought nothing of it,  I sidestepped so I wouldn't step on him and when I turned around I looked down at him and was in horror and disbelief.  My baby had blood on his face and paws. I could tell he wasn't breathing.  I went into spock.  I quickly called a friend and asked her to come right over right away.  She and her friend came right away and they went in and confirmed he had died.  His eyes and mouth were open and his tongue was sticking out part way.  She said it looked like he had possibly had a seizure or an aneurysm.  She took a picture of him and sent it to her sister who works for a vet.  They cleaned him up and wrapped him up and took him home with them to keep him safe until we could bury him.  I couldn't afford an necropsy.  I'll probably never know what killed my baby.  He turned 10 on 7/17/16. I've had him and his brother since they were 8 weeks old.  When I got my little fur babies they fit in the palm of my hands.  He was gold and it looked like he had a mane like a lion so I named him Roary.  His brother Sparkey and his puppy brother have been looking all over for him.  He always laid on my chest if I didn't feel well or if I was upset.  I'll miss him terribly.  I wish I could have been with him to try to save him.  It was a horrible week and I am glad I've had wonderful friends trying to help me through.

In Cats

Hi all,

I'm new to this so bare with me haha!

I have had my gorgeous kitten Luna since May, she was supposedly born in March but a trip to the vets told us that she was born in around April time. this has caused her to be incredibly scatty, running riot, meowing non stop and only happy when she is asleep. we have tried everything to calm her down, catnip, plug ins! so much and she hasn't changed.

she started weeing over the house, so we brought back her litter tray which helped. when it seemed she was back to normal, we removed it again and we haven't had an accident since.

until recently.. she has gotten so much worse at misbehaving, biting all the cables and attacking the plants that she never has done before. today when she bit the cables I shut her in the kitchen. she climbed into my mums work bag and did a really  big number 2. I don't know whether this was because she was scared or if she genuinely has something wrong with her?

has anyone experienced the same or similar thing? if so please can you give me some advice?

myself and my boyfriend are moving out in November/December time and im concerned that it is only getting worse. we will also be getting new kittens so im scared about that!

thanks for your advice in advance xx

My absolute best friend in feline form passed away this past Monday morning completely unexpectedly.  To say I am devastated is an understatement.  I have been crying for the past three days.  I was just completely blindsided.  He is one of four of our indoor cats and he just had a full exam at the vet last month.  He was 9 years old and in perfect health, or so the vet thought.

We really don't know what happened.  At around 1 am my wife was still watching tv and heard a crash and a kitty moaning in the dining room.  She rushed to investigate and found Timpy on the floor, legs all sprawled out, moaning with foam coming out of his mouth.  My wife screamed upstairs for me to hurry down.  When I rushed into the room and saw Timpy, I lost it. I knew instantly he was dying.  We quickly wrapped him in a towel and rushed to the car.  I don't know exactly when, but he died in my arms on the way to the emergency vet.  We have had cats for over 20 years and have never experienced anything like this.

Of our four cats, Timpy had the biggest personality and had stolen my heart years ago.  He constantly let me know when it was breakfast or dinner, and he did it very loudly.  Man could that cat meow.  I haven't slept past 7 am on the weekends for over nine years or dared do anything before first feeding the cats when I came home in the evenings.  But my reward was worth it.  Timpy loved me almost as much as food.  He'd snuggle with me for hours, sleep next to me at night, and allowed me to hold him and kiss his tummy unconditionally.  No offense to cats, but he was a dog in a cat suit.

It is truly killing me now that he's gone.  Even though there are still three cats and a dog here, the house is terribly silent.  It makes me so sad.  It also makes me mad.  Last Wednesday, for about a minute, I thought he might have been breathing a little too labored. I was a hair's length away from taking him to the vet when it seemed to stop and he acted otherwise totally normal.  For the next couple of days I would watch him, and saw nothing unusual.  And of course, he was just at the vet a mere four weeks prior, so what could possibly be wrong.  We typically rush our animals to the vet if they just look at us funny, so I really thought I was being overly protective.  Now of course I keep double guessing myself.  What if I had taken him? Maybe he'd still be alive today.  Obviously I will never know and will have to live with that thought forever.  I also find myself wondering why, of all my cats, did it have to be him?  I love all my cats dearly, but some are much older than 9 and none have the personality of Timpy.  Any death would be difficult, but why my precious Timpy?

We will never know what really killed my best buddy, Timpy, though everything I read suggests it was probably feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.  A thickening of the heart wall that clearly isn't easily detected by the vet.  Signs of the disease include labored breathing, which would suggest I probably did see something in his behavior last Wednesday.  I just wish I hadn't talked myself out of whisking him to the vet.  If there's one mistake I will never make again, it's that.

Sorry for the long post, but I miss my Templeton more than I have ever missed anything in my life and I just really wanted to tell our story.

Please if anyone can help me please do. The day before my cat Tiggers died he was doing this weird coughing thing like he was trying to cough up hair balls but he never did. The next day we all woke up and he was his usual 9 month old kitten self running around the house and playing.

That day we had to go to work and and of course left  our two cat's home, (we live on a property and it was a hot day so we thought a snake may have gotten to him because previous times our dogs have gone straight to water with a snake bight, and Tiggers went straight to the water bowl inside because their was water everywhere and he was lying next to it.) When we came home we saw our beautiful little Tigers lying on the floor dead. He was a Bengal/Tabby cat and my favourite animal. When we were removing him he was so heavy and it didn't seem right. The next day after this sad tragedy we found a bee in the house without a stinger which we thought could have been the problem too, but because of his weight and the fact their was cat poo everywhere in the house we think it could have been his tummy too. He had just been to the vet a good three months ago to micro-chipped, DEA-sexed, needles extra but nothing showed up as a health issue. Hope I didn't bore you out but PLEASE HELP US!!!!

Hi cat lovers
my beautiful feline looks like a lynx point Siamese but I am not sure.
could someone help me find out.
thank you.

after reading the stories and trying to find a reason of why my cat died, I realize that this all isn't as uncommon as it seems.  I feel for all of you who have lost your fur child.

On Saturday I was going to get in the shower when I had the urge to turn around.  When I did I saw my precious Jaxton under the bed with his mouth open and drool coming out.  I rushed over to him to find he was turning blue.  I immediately  called my partner to get help and the vet told me to bring him in immediately.  He started crying and projectile vomitted more clear fluids.  I packed him up and took him into the vet.  They put him into an oxygen tank and gave him some pain meds.  We watched him for about an hour and he wasn't getting much better.  The vet came in and said there wasn't much we could do other than keep him in oxygen until he passed  or to put him to sleep.  He said he may have had a clot go to his lungs or heart.  This can be brought in my heartworms or he could naturally have this problem without any signs or symptoms.  I didn't want my baby to suffer so I held him in my arms as he fell asleep from the medicine.  Before he passed and was still in the oxygen tank he head butted the glass to show me how much he loved me.  I will never forget that because it was his last sign of affection.  I buried him under the tree where he always watched the birds.  He was an indoor cat like most of your cats.  He was only 5 years old.  Unfortunately from reading there aren't many ways to avoid all of this from happening.  I will forever miss my little guy..

I really could use someone's wisdom to make my 16 year old black domestic short hair cat fat!

She's healthy and has an appetite (but doesn't eat a lot), but keeps losing weight.

Her thyroid level was creeping up each visit (every 6 months for a checkup), but we are waiting to put her on thyroid medication.
Me and my vet agreed to put her on the medication when she's below 6 pounds and now she's right around 6 pounds.

Even when she was at her biggest, she was 8-9 pounds.
She always been very small.

She's currently eats Orijen Regional Red Grain-Free Dry Cat Food.
Loves Temptations Tasty Chicken Flavor Cat Treats and Orijen Original Freeze-Dried Cat Treats.
She seems to love chicken and tuna.
I've been boiling chicken breasts and gave her no sodium tuna cans.

I was wondering if there's good raw food I could try with her?
Any dry, cat, wet, treats with lots of nutrition and possibly put some weight on her??
Good supplements for a senior cat?

Any advice will be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

my beautiful little cat named ashes passed today my heart is completely broken I'm writing this in complete tears as I tell you all the story, she was a indoor long hair cat, I work from home full time and watch my son at the same time so thru out he day typically she sleeps either under neath the couch or the bed and today it felt strange too me that I couldn't find her and i had a strange feeling that I needed to check underneath my sons crib and when I did I pulled out the drawer that he has and sadly she was under there dead my heart is broken,I took her into the vet and they are asking a high amount of money too do the texting too see what happened, she's a healthy cat no problems and for her to die like that seemed so odd she was healthy and never had issues I just need closure to what happened to my baby girl I can't afford that test 😞😞 some please help me

About a week ago, my cat, Storm got scratched in the eye. At first we thought it wasn't serious beause he usually spends hours outside and (occasionally) gets into fights with other cats. But most of the time it's just a normal scratch wound and not in the eye. It was in the eye this time and after a day of checking on it, we realized that it was serious. So we took Storm to the vet the next day. The vet only gave him a few wipes on the eye area and prescribed him with an eye drop. The vet did not mention anything serious and told us to give Storm the eye drops 2 to 3 times a day until it heals and that's what i've been doing. But today, it has been a week and it doesn't look like Storm's eye is getting healed. In fact, he doesn't even open the eye. I'm scared that it might be something else. If anyone has any answers pls let me know..

I have no problem paying for treatment but if it's something i can do to help heal or make his eye get better from home, i'd like to know.

Please and Thank you !!!

My cat Kato received a small (minor) scratch to his eye a couple days ago, after which was immediately flushed with saline solution.
We've been checking on him periodically for the last 48 hours and the scratch appears to be gone however he's been keeping his eye closed or half shut. There's no swelling, no weeping, and no apparent pain when you touch the eyelid, and I checked for abscesses, but there are none of those as well.
What is going on; why is he keeping his eye closed? Is there something else I should check for?
We're in tight money these days so we really can't afford to take him to the vet if it's a problem that's small enough for us to be able to take care of, but we love our cat dearly and will take him if need be.
I'm slightly worried =/ I don't want to ignore something that could be potentially problematic to him later on, so please, if anyone can give advice or help I'd appreciate it!
